Type A: For testing SOFT rubber, rubberlike materials, soft plastics, soft elastomers, waxes, and soft printing rollers
Built to meet or exceed current ASTM D2240 Specifications for Type A durometers. Often referred as a Shore scale, Type A measures the indentation hardness of rubber, elastomers, and other rubber-like substances such as neoprene, silicone, vinyl, nitrile and butyl. It can also be used for soft plastics, felt, leather and similar materials. This durometer can be used either with a test stand or as hand-held tester. It can be used with PTC® Models 320, 471or 473 Test Stands; or with the Model 441 Constant Load Weight for hand-held tests. Model 306L Durometer comes complete with carrying case and test block. The durometer comes standard with an ancillary hand for indicating peak readings. A 10-point certification of these instruments is available at additional charge. Certification equipment is traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and are done in accordance with ANSI/NCSL Z540-1.
